Oscar Recap 2010: I’m Sorry, Did That ‘Hurt’?

blogSpanWell, its over. Finally. The 82 Annual Academy Awards have come to a close and, at the end of the day, The Hurt Locker came out on top, winning six of the nine Oscars for which it was nominated. The Iraq War film took home the statue for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Editing,Best Original Screenplay, Best Sound Mixing, and Best Sound Editing. Avatar, on the other hand, only took home the Oscar for Best Cinematography, Best Art Direction, and Best Visual Effects. Overwhelming favorite Jeff Bridges won Best Actor for his role in Crazy Heart while Sandra Bullock beat out Gabourey Sidibe from Precious and the immortal Meryl Streep for Best Actress. Christoph Waltz won a much deserved Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for his evil role in Inglorious Basterds, and Mo’Nique won Best Supporting Actress for her performance in Precious. Pixar’s lovable film Up easily took home Best Animation Featured Film while Argentina’s El Secreto de Sus Ojos upset France’s Un Prophete and Germany’s The White Ribbon for Best Foreign Language Film.
